Example
#1: Online Training Centre for Financial Institution
Task: Create an online environment to house an innovative
web-based learning centre
A major financial institution required an online training
facility for their intranet. The manager involved - although
highly intelligent and internet savvy needed special insight
in order to make this a user-friendly evironment. There were
decisions about what file format to use and how to pull this
together in a neat, attractive online "centre". After
a short consultation, Director, Martin Howard was able to analyse
the requirements and devise a plan that would achieve the objectives
and cost less than other specialised systems. Custom design,
and good use of Microcontent gave the 'sense of place' that immediately
orientates users and help them understand how to procede.
Example #2: Advertorial microsite for Online Legal Portal
Task: Get Real Estate browsers to visit online conveyancing
facility
An online legal services provider wanted maximum leverage
from their high profile advertorial on a major real estate portal.
The microsite had to be hard-sell and deliver instant results
without compromising the brand. Martin Howard designed an eyecatching
page with special emphasis on micro-content that got straight
to the benefit and motivated users. The result was a click through
rate of over 40%!
Example #3: Web Architecture
for Shanghai Drug Corporation
Task: Web
Structure Design for a major Pharmaceutical firm in Shanghai.
A major US Pharmaceuticals company in Shanghai needs a new website
that appeals to medical professionals as well as consumers. The
challenge was to build a home page that seperates the corporate
information from the product marketing and healthcare extranet,
yet maintain navigability. The visuals needed to project Asian
ideals of 'good health' and 'trust', which are different from
western ones. My first design was approved by the management
within one week of the brief. It contained a convenient tabbed
interface that enabled the different users to find their way
intuitively.
Example #4: Microsite
for a University Department
Task: Create
a microsite to attract overseas students to do their PhD in Brisbane.
The project, for the UQ Chemical Engineering Department
was to produce a site for their Postgrad initiative. As this
was part of a marketing drive to attract students there was a
need for more flare and impact. At the same time we needed to
create areas for Research Teams to build their own sites which
would convey academic credibility. This required devising a template
scheme that was creative yet complied with the strict UQ
design standards. Our designer arranged international online
advertising and conducted training sessions for all participating
academics. The site immediate began to draw well qualified applicants
from many countries around the world.
